Be Apart of Operation Turkey!

Action in Community Through Service (ACTS) is holding their annual Operation Turkey in which the community comes together in helping families to have a great Thanksgiving dinner. Donations are encouraged to be centered around a traditional Thanksgiving meal- to include corn, baked beans, stuffing, cranberry sauce, muffin mix, or monetary donations towards the purchase of turkeys. Volunteers are also needed for unloading donations, sorting food, and making bags. Last year, ACTS served 1,356 families with 1,652 Operation Turkey Baskets. Together, we can make an impact on the lives of others.

For more information on how to contribute, please visit http://www.actspwc.org/operation_turkeyfaq.html

National Museum of Crime and Punishment

575 Seventh Street NW
Washington, WV

Aug 13, Friday: 2pm - 6pm
http://www.crimemuseum.org/

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children will be bringing safety education to kids on Safety Day at the National Museum of Crime and Punishment. To attract as many children as possible for this important event, the museum has waived the admission fee for all children under 14 years of age, and reduced the admission fee for all other attendees by 50%. The U.S. Secret Service will be at the event to make ID cards with kids’ fingerprints and pictures. Attendees can take part in a Passport to Safety activity, taking them on a scavenger hunt through the museum where they will be quizzed on safety tips in order to win prizes.

The purpose of Safety Day is to educate and make children aware of the dangers surrounding them every day from every angle through conversation and activities. This exciting, informative day will help to prevent children from being harmed and exploited.
