     This weekend, you could be enjoying the smooth sounds of music from Classic Albums Live. Classic Albums Live is comprised of immensely talented musicians performing the greatest albums of time, and they will be performing live.
     Celebrating a decade of live performances, Classic Albums Live was founded by Craig Martin back in 2003. Classic Albums Live has had many performances, and should continue to have many more. For this weekend, they will be performing songs from the famous Beatles album, Abbey Road. The performance this weekend will be taking place at The Hamilton, located in Washington D.C.
     Named after one of the U.S. founding fathers, the Hamilton hosts a number of musical performers and is also a restaurant where you can enjoy fine cuisine. If you are interested in visiting the Hamilton for the next show, you should free up your weekend and join in on the event.

Observe the Skies

     The National Air and Space Museum is hosting an observation of the sun. During the three hours, you can use the Observatory's safe telescopes to view the sun and learn about solar activity.
     The Observatory's own staff and volunteers will give you information on the effects of this star on Earth. Admission is free, and you can bring the whole family to learn something new.

National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade- 2013

     The annual National Cherry Blossom Festival parade celebrates the gift of three thousand trees from Japan in 1912. The mayor of Tokyo, Yukio Ozaki, sent the beautiful treasures to Washington, D.C. as tribute to the long lasting relationship between these two countries.

     Each year there is a parade, and it is taking place later this month. Presenting vivid costumes and adornments that resemble blossoms, the parade will be travelling through our nation's capital. There will be music, dancing, as well as celebrity appearances. All are welcome to experience the awe and refinement of this performance.

Black History Month- 2013

    In the month of February, Black History is celebrated nationwide. Those who contributed to creating milestones in African American history are honored through festivals, tours, workshops, performances and much more. Celebrating history during this month provides opportunity to learn something new and possibly even discover one's heritage. If you decide to take a trip to the Washington D.C. area during this month, you can attend any of the events that are taking place. You would have access to learn history right in our nation's capital. Resources at your very disposal will allow you to plan days full of history, and you can even plan for the whole family. If you are travelling with family, there are family oriented performances or tours that cater towards adults and children alike.
    The Smithsonian is featuring events during this month that people of all ages can attend. If you were to be in the Washington D.C. area on Sunday, February 3rd you may listen to a story about the late Rosa Parks, a civil rights activist.

Rosa Parks: Feb 4 1913- Oct 24 2005

    Born on February 4th, 1913 in Tuskegee, Alabama, Rosa Parks sparked a bus boycott throughout the city of Montgomery, AL when on December 1st, 1955 she refused to give up her seat to a white passenger when there were no longer any available. If she were alive today, she would have been celebrating her 100th birthday this upcoming Monday.

American Ballet Theatre Presents 'The Bright Stream'

The Presidency of John F. Kennedy: A 50th Anniversary Celebration.

From January 18 to February 6, 2011 the Kennedy Center hosts The Presidency of John F. Kennedy: A 50th Anniversary Celebration. This three-week series of events and performances commemorates the president who led the United States into the modern era of global participation and who was a foremost patron of the arts. The celebration features performances by Music Director Christoph Eschenbach and the National Symphony Orchestra, American Ballet Theatre, Yo-Yo Ma, Denyce Graves, Emanuel Ax, and others, in addition to a newly commissioned play for young audiences and their families based on two collections of poetry selected by Caroline Kennedy, a documentary, performances on the Millennium Stage, and more.

The Bright Stream

A comic ballet in two acts, The Bright Stream, set to music by Dmitri Shostakovich, features sets by Ilya Utkin and costumes by Elena Markovskaya. The libretto, by Adrian Piotrovsky and Fyodor

Lopukhov, tells the story of the members of a Russian farm collective in the 1930's and their humorous interactions with a group of visiting performers during the harvest festival. Featuring Paloma Herrera, Marcelo Gomes, Gillian Murphy and David Hallberg.

The original production of The Bright Stream, with choreography by Lopukhov, was premiered on April 4, 1935 by the Maly Opera and Ballet Theater at the Maly Theatre in Leningrad.
