Come visit the historic Kenmore Plantation!
This Georgian style brick mansion reflects pre-revolutionary-war wealth and status of the Fredericksburg Merchant. The building was built in the 1770"s by George Washington's sister, Betty Washington, and her husband Fielding Lewis. The house was originally apart of a plantation of almost 1,300 acres just outside the village of Fredericksburg. The property designated a National Historic Landmark by the National Park Service in 1970.
Despite the fact that Lewis still owed money on the property when he passed, it still stands today and can be enjoyed by many visitors. Tours are done upon reservation, 24 hours ahead of time in advance for weekdays and 1 week in advance for the weekends.
